New pool safety laws – one month to go

The second and final stage of Queensland's new swimming pool safety laws will come into effect 1 December 2010.

The new laws will impact on property owners and agents by introducing mandatory pool safety inspections that will be triggered by the sale and lease of properties with pools.  The legislation will apply to shared pools (such as in apartment complexes) and non-shared pools (typically houses).

The REIQ is currently in discussion with government and working closely with the Queensland Law Society to revise contracts of sale for house and land and for lots in a community title along with the residential tenancy agreement.

Members will be notified of these changes via upcoming REIQ eNews, and on Facebook and Twitter.
